Digital marketing is a family of jobs, not one job. The main tracks are search (SEO), social media, paid advertising (performance marketing), content and email, with analytics running through all of them.
Start broad for a month: learn how each channel works, then pick one track to go deep on. Employers hire specialists at the entry level more often than generalists.
Build a small portfolio: a blog you optimised, a social page you grew, or a mock ad campaign with a budget and results plan.
Get assessed in the specific skill you chose, add the certificate to LinkedIn, and apply for executive or associate roles that list that skill.
